Leaving the   Baja Ha-Ha cruisers rally   , Ketch 22 and crew headed east and north in the general direction of La Paz, BCS .  The scenery was stunning and pristine, full of myriad aquatic forms of   aquatic wild life,   but as the wind was brisk and the crew was shorthanded ( Naty and myself, we were a little too busy to take pictures along the way.   We did manage to spend about a year in La Paz and points north however, reaching as far as Loretto before turning around and heading south to Mazatlan .

Balandra Bay

Balandra Bay is a shallow protected bay a short distance to the east of the entrance to La Paz.   We stopped there for the night so we could arrive in La Paz in the morning.   It was a very nice place, where a lot of local tourists from La Paz spent relaxing weekends alongside the cruising yachts.

Marina Costa Baja

We stopped in Marina Costa Baja, without a plan.   We stayed two weeks shy of a year because we enjoyed it so much.   Unfortunately, the marina slip fee increased 100% during the year we spent there.   Those who stayed, with grim humor began referring to it as Marina Costa Lotsa as the rates rose to $700/month for a 40 foot slip.

La Paz

La Paz is the largest city in Baja California.   It is a city of about 200,000 and has much to offer.   Naty and I spent many an hour there, chasing down boat parts and 'taco pescados', which we found were best at Rancho Viejo near Marina De La Paz .   the beer was also attractively priced there at about $1/bottle.
